I just wrote and recorded 3 songs!

This is my first musical solo project.  I wrote all of the words and music for all of my songs.  I also played all of the instruments on all of the recordings and performed all of the vocals as well.  Check out my first song:  https://soundcloud.com/user-18556937

Changes

Ironically, as I complete a multitude of changes not only for this month but for this year of 2016, David Bowie, a fellow Welshman and musician, who wrote the song, “Changes,” has passed away.  I have found myself reflecting on the many changes I have experienced in the past and all of the countries I have lived in, jobs I have held and careers I have pursued.  I have played many songs both live and recorded on many stages and in many studios.  I have written and published many books.  And I have adapted and overcome many things to be where I am now.

I can honestly say that I have never been happier.  All of the new things that have come my way this month and year have been wonderful, fun, exciting, challenging, different, unique, memorable and have helped me to grow into an even more diverse and better person than I have ever been before.  I want to just savor this right now, before I launch into the next exciting, new and fast-paced phase in my life, and take time to smell the flowers.

Like Johann Sebastian Bach, I am also self-published…

Johann Sebastian Bach, like myself, self-published many of his own works.  It’s crazy to imagine such a musical genius, composer, musician and conductor, had to self-publish many of his works.  But he did.  Besides both being musicians, I also self-published many of my novels worldwide on the Amazon Kindle store.

Now with agents both in New York and in London interested in my latest book, which is still unpublished, I hope to not have to self-publish anymore, but to have a whole host of professionals at my disposal to do the editing, proof-reading and publishing, as well as marketing, of my latest book and all my books going forward.  These are very exciting times!

I got to play drums live in a band last night (Tuesday)!

So I went to my old neighborhood in Seattle for a writer’s meeting.  Afterward, I went to look up my old pub where I used to hang out there, a Welsh pub called “Cardiff Arms.”  In the past, some of my favorite places of all time have gone out of business, moved, or invariably become a formless bar and grill.  But this time, my former favorite pub, “Cardiff Arms,” was now an Irish pub!  I was so delighted I went inside.  It is now “The Irish Triangle.”  I was so excited.  So I ordered a Newcastle Brown Ale and sat down to enjoy the atmosphere.

Then a guitar player got up on stage and started to play.  He asked if there were any drummers in the house and deja-vu set in for me!  When I first moved to Seattle, I went to the “Dubliner,” an Irish pub in Fremont (Seattle).  The same thing happened to me then and there and I went up to play the drums, and ended up meeting the guys would become my band.  It has been a long and adventurous professional drummer’s career for me, recording an album, releasing a cd, touring the west coast, playing in some famous clubs where other big bands played.  And there I was, last night, starting it all over again!  I had a blast.  We finished with “Wish You Were Here” by Pink Floyd and I nailed it!  So much fun!
