Be grateful for your senses!

Be grateful for your senses and all of the wonderful experiences you enjoy because of them.  Think of all the wonderful tastes and textures you experience with your mouth.  Enjoy all of the wonders you see with your eyes and music yout hear.

Smell the wonders of nature and luxuriate in your touch.  Never forget it is a wonder and privilege to be human.

Humans thrive on contact but society discourages it.

We as humans thrive on contact.  We are made inside another human.  We kiss and hug before we can even walk or speak.  We are warm blooded creatures and write songs, books and movies about love between humans.  And yet our society discourages contact.  Our society wants us to have virtual friends, connect via media instead of through touch and so many of our children now are being born Autistic.  These poor souls shun as much contact as possible.  What a shame.

For those who prefer texting over a phone call to hear another human’s voice, who prefer video games over physical sports or interacting with humans in person, for those who prefer as little contact as possible with other humans, they have sadly become anything but human.  We are made for contact with other humans and need to do so, for our physical, mental and emotional well being.  Otherwise, we become aliens on our own planet.

Most people don’t want to be the sidekick.

Most people don’t want to be the sidekick.  Most people want to be the hero.  Everyone wants attention.  But when most people are in a situation where they are not the hero and someone else is, they often react to the person who was the hero with resentment, jealousy, disdain and even retaliation.  This is all wrong.  When someone else is the hero we need to be gracious, show them encouragement, congratulate them, praise them and be happy for them.  Just be patient.  You’ll get plenty of more chances to be the hero and you’ll get more attention.

We all need to show more grace these days.  Let someone go ahead of you in line. Hold the door for someone.  Let someone who is waiting turn in front of you.  If you do, you’ll see others follow your example and you will pay it forward, making society and the world a better place.  Remember we are all human, we are all mortal, we all only get one life and it’s short.  Make the most of it for others as well as yourself.  Albert Einstein said, “Only a life lived for others is a life worthwhile.”
