Our garden of delights has now made way for two of my favorite, most colorful, and most fragrant of my plants: The purple lavender is now blooming and is filling the garden with its delightful scents. Also, our wild rose bushes are filled with pink blossoms and every time I go outside to the front or back garden, I am serenaded by the wonderful scent of my roses. This is such a wonderful time of year as all the summer blossoms and flowers and abundants. The weather is gettting warmer and all of the summer activities and outdoor adventures are beckoning.
In my garden, Spring flowers are now waning. Crocus, Daffodil, Hyacinth and Tulips have all faded. New Summer flowering bushes, as well as star gazers, rhodies, lillies, roses and azalaea are starting to burst forth. All of my flowering bushes are starting to flourish as my rhodies are all blooming as well. The roses have buds and the star gazers continue to rise into the sky.
One of my favorites in my garden is my azaleas. My particular bush is so full of color, so bright and orange, that I call it my fireworks bush, because when it is in full bloom, it looks like a burst of fireworks in the Summer sky. It is so full of life and color that it makes me happy every time I see it.
Spring is in my garden. All of the hyacinth, daffodils, iris and crocus have come up. And now, my tulips have started to bloom. I am so excited. After a long, cold, dark, rainy winter, it is refreshing to see new life and color in the world. And now that my tulips are blooming, the air is starting to warm up and the grass is turning green again, I am refreshed.
Soon, all of my tulips will be open and bobbing their colorful heads. Next will come the rhodys, hydrangea, roses and lillies. Bring on the Spring and soon the Summer will be here and all will be warm and bright.
My giant daisies are over five feet tall now! They are still growing! This year they might even grow higher than my fence! It is such a nice reward to have the plants that I nurture and care for all year finally bloom into something beautiful, fragrant and even of an unusual character such as very tall!
My blueberries have also begun to ripen and every morning we can have fresh blueberries with breakfast! And these aren’t the usual, average blueberries. These blueberries are the size of cherries and they are so sweet! Ah summer, enjoy!
Last year, we visited Sequim for the lavender festival, on the Penninsula of Washington state. It was a delightful collection of lavender farms and ranches, including special wines and bed and breakfast deals, featuring anything and everything lavender. There was even lavender flavored chocolate!
Then I decided to plant some lavender in our back yard and it rooted and took well, so now this year, we have a lavender festival in our own back yard. The plants are all flowering and are so beautiful in their deep purple shade, tiny flowers and amazing fragrance. I brought much of it inside to fill the house with aroma!
I was born in June so I celebrate my birthday this month. It is also the month for graduation, so school is out, since I am a teacher, I love that! Also, it is the month when raspberries, my favorite fruit, ripen and are in season. Father’s Day is also in June, and since I am a father, I love that day as well. Finally, June is when roses bloom.
Right now the roses in my garden are blooming! I brought bunches of them into the house and put them in vases and the whole house is filled with their intoxicating scent! Ah, and the summer sun and warmth, along with all of my other favorites, makes June my favorite month and the most wonderful month of the year. Get outside and enjoy!

My Summer flowers and flowering bushes are flourishing this Summer! My orange azalea bush looks like fireworks again this year and smells like heaven! My roses have just started to bloom. My lavender is full of bees and butterflies. My lilac tree is purple and fragrant. My giant daisies are already four feet high. And my four bushes of rhodies, each with a different color, are all alight! The flowers on the rhodies are full of color and bees and scent. It is a wonderful time of year.
Soon my lavender will burst into color and scent and my roses will flourish. The giant daisies will grow to five feet high then sprout their strikingly white flowers. My grape-vine will be full of leaves and baby fruit. My apple tree blossoms will turn to apples and at last, my star-gazer lilies will crown off the Summer with their huge, glorious petals and intoxicating scent! Bring on the Summer!
