We are getting the band back together!

After playing drums in multiple rock bands including one in England, recording a cd, having a release party, touring the west coast of the United States and having a blast, I have been out of music for a while.  It was time to start looking for a band again or time to find a band that was looking for a drummer.  Well, I finally found one.  Now it is time to buy a drum kit again since I sold mine years ago.

I feel like a rock star as I shop for drum kits, remembering so many good times, places, venues, recording, enjoying the chemistry and experience of being part of an elite musical band.  Now I find that I have missed it more than I know and that playing on stage live is one of the things I miss most.  So here goes, I am rehearsing and planning a tour again soon!

Attending an amazing play in Ashland is so legal!

We had an amazing time watching “The Count of Monte Cristo” live on stage at the Oregon Shakespeare festival in Ashland, Oregon this summer.  It is such a wonderful place, community and is thriving with creative energy so much so that it is palpable. The shops and restaurants there remind me so much of my time I lived in England.  And the Black Sheep pub makes a killer English breakfast.  I recommend this experience to every artist and lover of theater, literature and the arts.

Happy Veteran’s Day to all my sisters and brothers in arms!

Happy Veteran’s Day to all my brothers and sisters in arms!  We had a wonderful ceremony at the high school where I teach.  The staff and students put on an amazing and respectful assembly.  I felt so honored to be a part of it.  So many students that day came up to me in classrooms and in the hall to shake my hand and thank me for my service.  I also reminded them to not forget those who paid the ultimate sacrifice for our freedom.

As I enjoy this day off from school and work, I went golfing and was welcomed by some late Autumn sunshine.  It was very peaceful and it gave me time to reflect on my time I spent in the Air Force.  I got to meet and work with many great people, travel all over Europe, and has incredible experiences that made me a better person and which I will never forget.  I am so glad I made the choice to join those many years ago!

Symbols of Summer part 2:

When I lived in England, I so looked forward to the carnivals and fetes that would come to the city where I lived every Summer!  There was so much fun to be had, with the rides, food, music and festivities!

Now I enjoy those same carnivals and fetes here in Seattle where I live each Summer.  They are also filled with rides, like the spinning dragons, Scrambler and bumper cars!  The food is wonderful and the music is enchanting.  Ah, I live Summer and festivals!
