Holiday Season

Although we take time to be thankful during the holiday season, we should be thankful all year long!  There are so many things I have to be thankful for this holiday season, and all year long:  My family, my company, my work, my new house, the songs and albums I have recorded in multiple studios, the multiple books I have written and published that I have now surpassed Charles Dickens, the festivals I have helped organize and run, Christmas snow, road trips, vacation, my man cave, my new giant tv, my new grill, being able to work often from home, taking the train to work, and so many other little things that I blush with how blessed I have been and still am.

My New Year’s Resolution is to be thankful all year long and never forget how blessed I have been and how blessed I am every day.

“The Prisoner of Zenda” is a great and quick read for Oktoberfest.

“The Prisoner of Zenda” is a great and quick read for Oktoberfest.  I love this tale about mistaken identity, trading places, Germany in the Summer, travel and the great outdoors.  I also love Oktoberfest and the celebration of the harvest, feasting and great beverages.  I also love to read.  Having been to Germany and traveled there many summers, I can appreciate the great woods and forests, as I have hiked in the Black Forest and eaten wild raspberries there.  I have also visited many German castles.

The film version with Peter Sellers is also well done and captures the spirit of Ruritania and Anthony Hope, the author, would be proud!

My favorite books to read are the ones I wrote, but Ayn Rand is pretty good, too.

I have found now that I am publishing my 20th novel, which ties me with Charles Dickens for total novels written and published, that I prefer my novels over any others.  I know that sounds completely bias, but I still read novels by other authors.  It’s just that I prefer my novels over other authors.  When I am finished reading a novel by another author, I am usually disappointed.  But when I finish one of my novels, again, I find myself very satisfied.

Recently, I took up one of Ayn Rand’s novels and began to read it.  Unlike most novels by other authors, I did not put it down after 10 pages, completely disillusioned and disappointed.  In fact, I read the first 50 pages.  I am still reading it and it still holds my interest.  I have found in Ayn Rand and kindred spirit.

I am thankful for so many things!

I am so blessed and thankful for my family.  I am thankful that I have been able to help so many people in so many ways.  I am thankful that I have been able to work and teach as an USA Hockey official, Canadian Hockey official, baseball umpire, soccer official, NCAA hockey official, Junior Hockey official, WHL official and also as a Professional IFL, NHL, NLL and PGA official.  I am thankful that I have been given the gift of writing and have written and published so many works including 19 novels. I am thankful that I have been able to work in so many industries.  I am thankful for people I have know only for a short time and who I have known all my life.  I am thankful for my health and freedom to live in the greatest country in the world.  I am thankful for education and travel.  In this season I don’t want this to be the only time to remember all I have to be thankful for; I want to remember to be thankful all year long!

I am in or written about in just about every book in the world, since I am Eddie, and that is a whirlpool!

I am Eddie and I am in almost every book in the world.  You will see me, my name, used sometimes to described whirling leaves or and “eddie” of leaves.  Also, I can be used to describe whirlpools in water, sometimes “eddying” on the surface.  And often, the wind moves in an “eddie” or “eddies” along the coast.

So next time you read a book, you’ll most likely see me, my name, in the air or water.  Which means, I am in almost every book in the world!  This is a wonderful concept to think about since I am both an avid reader and a prolific author of short stories, plays, true books and novels!  I write and I am written about in almost every book in the world!
