Here is the first page of my novel, “The French Ruse.”

 

Prelude

 

Her bare feet move silently across the stone floor. The great pillars soar above her into the ceiling of the palace. She hurries her pace, longing to see her Lover, her last hope, hearing that he is dying! If he is to pass away, her soul will fly from her body to meet him in the afterlife. She will be welcomed by Osiris at long last. He is her last purpose for living, now that all her hopes are dashed. She is feared, hated, hunted, as are her children. She senses the end is near.

How could it have come to this? After all the she has done for her people? She has already lost one lover and has her first child pronounced illegitimate from…
