It’s that time of year to open up the sunroof on my car and cruise! All the Winter cold is gone. The moon is full. My tulips are open and myh lavendar and the rest of my garden are blossoming into color and life! It’s 60 degrees every day and it’s even balmy at night!
So get out there and enjoy the blue skies and sunshine. Go travel, hike, explore or just sit outside on your porch or take and breathe it all in. This is one of the best seasons of the year and it only comes once a year so drink it all in while you can!
So I was at the gas pump the other day, getting raped again by ludicrous gas prices, and I began to wonder if our poor economy was the result of our lowered morals or if our lowered morals tanked our economy? Remember when we used to get big candy bars, hamburgers and giant portions of food for so little money? Now every plate seems to be larceny. And walking out of the grocery store with two bags used to cost twenty bucks, now it costs fifty! Stamps are ridiculously expensive and so is everything else, which service and quality keeps going down. Did we reduce our quality and service, lower our morals, just out of greed? And is that why our economy has tanked?
Or did the greed of the government, nickel and diming us over everything, cause us to be ignorant, oblivious, inconsiderate people as drivers on the road? Is our poor economy why everyone wants to sue everyone and sleep with everyone’s wife, get people in trouble, back-stab and passively aggressively attack everyone? We need to open our eyes and start behaving like humans again. And let’s give more to the poor, help people out, lower our prices and give people a bargain once in a while. Life is not about things, it’s about people, so take care of everyone else first and be generous.
“Chapter 1 – A Curious Death
Ms. Orange sits in the circus tent; the sound of a carnival faintly comes in from the opening in the flap. Up on the makeshift stage stands a magician. He holds the cliché bird in the cage in his one hand, and a silk kerchief in the other. After several incantations of some ancient, mystical language, he waves the kerchief over the cage, then lays it upon it, completely covering it and the bird inside. With a smile and a flourish, he then removes the kerchief to reveal the bird has vanished! Scattered applause circulates among the crowd. Ms. Orange smiles, shakes her head, and claps in a non-committal effort. The magician bows and turns to leave the stage. His performance is over for the afternoon. Ms. Orange leaves the show at the conclusion of the performance.
As she moves among the other tents and performers, a man on stilts passes her, stops, stoops and hands her a flower. She smiles and thanks him, continuing on her way. She is wearing a colorful hat, after the fashion of the day, and has it smartly pinned on her perfectly sculpted hair. She stops in front of a small booth. Inside is a machine with a gypsy head inside. The sign above it reads, “Lady Estrella, Fortune Teller.” A great lover of the occult and mystical arts, Ms. Orange whispers out loud, “Why not!”

Even though I have had snow at my house last week, the flowers that had already come up survived! After several more days and nights of frost, they have endured. Now more flowers are springing up and soon their petals will open now that they safely know Winter is finally over and Spring is here to stay.
Spring is like the human spirit in its resiliency. No matter what life throws at us, whether it is physical challenges, emotional stress, financial burdens, trying situations, loss of loved ones or any other thing, we have the power to overcome, to learn, grown, and endure. Don’t ever give up when you think of what others have gone through and that worse things have happened to better people than us. Keep Springing!

Things I love about March are many! First, there is St. Patrick’s Day. That is always a fun time to celebrate with family and friends. Then there is Daylight Savings Time, with the days getting longer, the sun rising earlier and my garden bursting into life! There is also the first day of Spring and the Vernal Equinox. And this year, Easter comes in March. But most of all, I love March because that’s when Spring break starts!
This year, as in the past, March has also brought us late snow. And today, it did not disappoint. We got two inches of snow overnight and it is still snowing this morning! It will probably melt off by the afternoon but we shall see. In the meantime, my tulips are keeping there heads down, eyes closed and petals concealed.
There is hope! I know the weather right now is dark, gloomy, cloudy, cold, rainy, icy, full of hail and even snow! The first day of Spring brought snow to my house! But don’t despair. Spring is on the way, the flowers in my garden are popping up everywhere and soon it will be sunny and warm every day. We will be wearing shorts, t-shirts and flip-flops, opening all the windows in the house and driving with our sun roofs open!
Remember that after every storm, the clouds will clear, the sun will come out and there will be new life. Just look up in the sky and I guarantee there will be a rainbow. Each new day brings new hope and a change of fortune so don’t give up!
