This is a quote from Thomas Paine, and although he penned these words nearly two and a half centuries ago, they hold true today for our generation. If one looks around one can see storms and natural disasters, wars, crime, hideous dark acts going on behind closed doors being committed by those who we once thought were heroes.
Is the war in Afghanistan really about democracy and terrorism? Is it about oil? Or is it about drugs, like Vietnam? Did you know Afghanistan is the world’s largest opium producer? Opium derivatives include morphine and heroin! Are our young men and women getting their legs and arms blown off, their minds and lives destroyed, all for the U.S. to get a cut in this huge drug profit in Afghanistan? I sure hope not, but one can only wonder.
But in these trying times, it is good to be thankful for what one has, to hug one’s loved ones, appreciate them, because they could be gone, we all could be gone tomorrow. Live each day to the fullest and enjoy this brief life we have all been gifted!
I hope you enjoy it, like it and subscribe to me on YouTube. I am willscarlet14
Why can’t people just admit when they are wrong, say sorry, and try to make amends for their errors or faults? When I was in school, people admitted when they made mistakes and then they apologized and tried to find ways to make amends and prevent making the same mistake again in the future. But people are not like that these days. They are not honest. They don’t have integrity. They are not genuine. And when they make a blunder, not only do they deny it, but they get defensive and lash out irrationally at the person who brings their mistake to their attention. Then they retaliate against the person who brought the fault to their attention, as if that person was doing anything wrong! This is totally backwards, which seems to be a touchstone of our society today.
I wish we would all get back to being real and not defensive or retaliatory and just admit when we are wrong, say sorry and try to prevent the same mistake in the future. I wish people would be honesty with themselves in who they are and not pretend to be something or someone they are not. If that were to happen, if our society would return to that type of honest mentality and behavior, it would be a much better planet.
To be diversified I sell my novels on BN.com and Amazon. com and I also receive reviews on both websites. I also have readers, reviewers and followers on Shelfari.
Adding my live readings of my novels on YouTube has been a great help to increase exposure as well. And along with my blog on wordpress.com and my publicity on Facebook, I am acquiring new readers all over the world every month.
I am working on a new novel even now, and I hope to continue to increase my followers and deliver with novels that they read and love!
I am thankful for all those who view and subscribe to my videos on YouTube on my willscarlet14 account. I am enjoying reading portions of my novels each week and from the amount of followers and reviews, it seems that my readers are enjoying it as well.
I may read some of my other novels on YouTube if viewers continue to follow my current one, “On His Majesty’s Secret Service,” and I may read each new subsequent novel I write on YouTube as well…
After playing, coaching and officiating many sports throughout my life, I am so thankful to be a professional Lacrosse official in the National Lacrosse League! Our season starts soon and I am very excited for when the Washington Stealth take the field in Everett again.
The sport I officiated most frequently is ice hockey, and I did get to officiate one NHL game, but as life would have it, full of surprises, I end up a full-time official in professional Lacrosse. But it is fine with me an I love the sport equally as I love hockey. The two sports are very similar and I find Lacrosse to be even faster. And with the pro athletes being bigger and more talented, as well as the organization filled with high quality people, I am thankful to be a part of it.
On Thanksgiving, I am so thankful for so many things: Family, my novels, gardening, hockey, teaching, my car, friends, Autumn leaves, travel, castles, bed and breakfasts, America and so many other things.
But I am also thankful for little things that make life special as well. I am thankful for candles and incense. Candles are such a wonderful thing in this season when days are shorter and darker and nights are longer. Candles add light and scent and life in this Autumn and Winter season.
Be thankful today, light a candle and enjoy the warmth, scent and light of life!
